The "Road" to Paris....

If you are a traveler at all, you know sometimes things do not go as planned (especially with air travel). My European adventure was scheduled to begin yesterday (Wed, March 16th) from Orlando -> Miami -> Paris. All appeared just lovely, a sunny day in Central Florida as mom and I ate a nice lunch at good 'ole Sonny's BBQ, easy drive to the airport, quick drop-off (goodbye) and the quickest security clearance ever with CLEAR (I highly recommend if you travel often). Trip was going so smoothly, really ready for the long flight to Paris and then, just like that....the tide turned! Storms rolled in, lighting and torrential rain as I sat on the flight to Miami. This was not going to end well. Needless to say, we did not take off on time (much later than scheduled) which landed us in Miami at 5:50p. Which did not go well for me since my International flight was scheduled to depart at 6:00p, and it did...without ME!! UGH. Worst feeling ever. After a good stiff drink, and lots of cussing, and finding my inner peace, I was rebooked on a flight to JFK (YES, you heard right, NY) for the overnight (arrived at midnight), slept in a hotel (my cost) then back to the airport (JFK) for a 5:20p flight to Paris to arrive at 5:35a on Friday. Oh the joy of traveling.

A plus to this mishap....thanks to my dear friend Ed Devney, I visited the TWA Hotel (and I consider a TWA museum) located at Terminal 5 at JFK. It was such a great treat. How fun to go back-in-time with the atmosphere (Frank Sinatra, Beatles tunes), TWA plane (it was not open so could not get the true feel - opened at 4p, I was in terminal 8 by then), great 1960's decor, and a display of the TWA uniforms. Was truly worth a visit.

One note: NY airports are the worst! They don't even have CLEAR. Luckily the line for security was not long.

Nothing like a Twister room? Brings back great memories of being a child in the 60's/70's.

A little bit of history. There is so much more...

The many phases of flight attendant outfits (this was just one of the displays)

A true show of the times.

Getting ready for my flight, nostalgic style.
